How Often Should You Measure Your Bra Size?

When was the last time you checked your bra size? If your answer is “a few years ago” (or maybe never 👀), we need to talk. Because here’s the truth — your bra size is not a “set it and forget it” situation.

The Golden Rule: Measure Every 6–12 Months

At IND Collections, we recommend self-measuring your bra size every 6 months to a year. Think of it as a regular check-up for your comfort and confidence. A bra that fits well not only feels amazing but also supports your posture, enhances your shape, and prevents unnecessary discomfort.

The Best Time to Measure

Here’s a pro tip that most people don’t know:

The best time to measure is in the middle of your cycle — after your period but before your fertile window.

Why? Because your breasts can change in size and fullness throughout your menstrual cycle due to hormonal shifts. Measuring at a time when they’re least affected gives you the most accurate results.

While it’s not an absolute rule, try to avoid measuring during your period — most women experience swelling or tenderness at this time, which can throw off your measurements.

Why Your Bra Size Can Change (Even If You Don’t Notice)

Your body is constantly evolving, and so is your bra size. Common reasons for changes include:

  • Weight fluctuations – even a few kilos can make a difference.

  • Hormonal changes – monthly cycles, birth control, or hormone therapy.

  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding – a whole new size journey.

  • Menopause – natural changes in breast tissue and shape.

  • Age – our bodies shift and reshape over time.

It’s completely normal — and the best way to keep up is to measure regularly.

Why Self-Measuring Matters

A poorly fitted bra isn’t just uncomfortable — it can cause shoulder pain, back tension, and even affect your posture. Plus, the right fit can transform the way your clothes look and feel.

By self-measuring, you take control of your comfort. And with IND Collections’ luxury lingerie selection, you can be confident that once you know your size, you’ll find pieces that feel as good as they look.

Quick Self-Measure Guide

1. Wear a non-padded bra for accuracy.

2. Measure around your ribcage (underbust) snugly. This is your band size.

3. Measure around the fullest part of your bust without squishing.

4. Subtract the band measurement obtained in Step 1 from the bust measurement obtained in Step 2.

5. The difference between the two is your cup size.

Pro Tip: Save your measurements in your phone so you always have them when shopping online.

Bottom line: Your bra size is not a lifetime number — it’s a reflection of your right now body. Measuring every 6–12 months means you’ll always be wearing lingerie that truly fits, supports, and flatters you.
